Good to Know: The New York Times

New York Times Online

The Rensselaer Libraries have access to the New York Times online, which students, faculty, and staff can access on any device, whether you're on or off campus. Once you've registered online, you'll have a full year of access to New York Times' online content and archives. You can re-register for yearly access for as long as you're affiliated with Rensselaer.

New York Times Audio

New York Times Audio 

The New York Times has a new app, available for iOS devices, that's designed to bring listeners inside the most important news stories of the day. New York Times Audio is included with a New York Times subscription! Here's some of what you'll find on New York Times Audio:

  • A 10 minute show called "The Headlines," where Times reporters will discuss the three biggest stories of the day
  • Short culture and lifestyle pieces from reporters 
  • Reporter Reads, where reporters will go into some personal detail about stories they've worked on  
  • The Athletic's suite of sports podcasts
  • Magazine journalism from top publishers beyond the New York Times  

The New York Times Audio app is available as part of Rensselaer's site license. Once the app is downloaded from the app store, users will need to sign in with their New York Times login and password. For information on subscriptions and how to register, check out the boxes below!

Registering

Subscriptions

If you already have an unpaid New York Times subscription, do not click on "create account." Instead:

  • Click on the "Already Have an Account? Log in here" link
  • Log in with your existing New York Times username and password
  • This will link your existing account to the Rensselaer Site License

If you already have a paid New York Times subscription, you must cancel it first through Customer Care. To cancel, you can either:

  • Email customercare@nytimes.com
  • Call 800-591-9233 
  • Send a message to the New York Times Chat
