Library staff routinely curate displays to highlight library materials that celebrate the range of our collection's holdings. This library guide contains information regarding our physical library displays, found on the 2nd floor of Folsom Library across from the Service desk.
On March 17th, people all across the globe come out in droves wearing green and gold to celebrate St. Patrick's Day - regardless of ethnicity or national origin. As a cultural and religious holiday, March 17th honors the death of Saint Patrick, one of the patron saints of Ireland, who in the 5th century acted as a Christian missionary and attempted to drive out Celtic pagan traditions out of Ireland. Over the course of centuries, the religious feast day became a national holiday. During mass emigration from Ireland during the 19th and 20th centuries, celebrations of St. Patrick continued to spread all across the globe. As a library, we have provided below recommendations that highlight works from the collection related to Saint Patrick, Ireland, and the Irish diaspora.
