Library staff routinely curate displays to highlight library materials that celebrate the range of our collection's holdings. This library guide contains information regarding our physical library displays, found on the 2nd floor of Folsom Library across from the Service desk.
In the United States, Pride Month is a celebration of the lives and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community. The month of June was selected for such observance in honor of the Stonewall Riots of 1969, which marked a new era of the gay rights movement in the late 20th century. As early as 1970, grassroots pride marches popped up around the country. Pride Month became first officially recognized by the federal government in 1999, as 'Gay and Lesbian Pride Month', but later amended to recognize all members of the LGBTQ+ community in 2011. Join us in celebrating Pride Month by checking our curated collection of material related to the lives of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, trans folk, and other members of the LGBTQ+ community.
